Engaging Families with Host Amber Teamann!
Amber Teamann is an Assistant Principal at a K-4 elementary school in Texas and states that she is “proud to work in a district that believes in the power of relationships and puts what is really important at the forefront of education.”
Throughout Amber’s 12 years in education she has held many roles. She has served as a Title I Technology Facilitator with responsibility for 17 campuses where she assisted staff and students in navigating their digital abilities and responsibilities. Prior to that role Amber taught 4th grade and loved every single minute!
Amber’s credo is that there should be no separation between technology and subject matter and that all subjects can be made more engaging to students if we are able to deliver in a manner in which they want to learn. Whether that includes a website, a device, or presentation style, Amber believes that we should ALL want to be the best we can be for our students, and models that for the staff she works with.
From being a part of district initiatives to sharing innovative ways to connect with stake holders, Amber is always striving to make education more meaningful for the campuses she serves. Helping launch Twitter within her district has led to open dialogue about the power of social media and opportunities to tell stories about education in the way they should be shared.
Amber has been on the EdCampDallas planning team since its inception and has also been involved in creating digital fluency classes for a Regional Service Center. In 2013, she partnered with George Couros to develop and curate leadership with the “School Admin Virtual Mentoring Project”, which connected over 400 educators worldwide in a space that nurtured and cultivated leadership.
Speaking at numerous conferences throughout her career, both locally and nationally, including ASCD and Learning Forward, has provided her the opportunity to share the digital literacy message she feels so strongly about for all learners. In addition to blogging for Connected Principals, Amber is a firm believer in modeling a digital footprint. Her educational philosophy and digital portfolio can be found at www.TechnicallyTeamann.com or on twitter at @8amber8.
