Anna Carswell
Anna Carswell has taught in Australian and International schools, both as a class teacher and in administrative roles, including as Assistant Head/Head of Elementary schools. Her particular passions lie in creating environments that best engage with the individual learner, along with incorporating innovative learning methods and technology into her everyday practices.
One of Anna’s favourite educational quotes and one that she truly believes, comes from Michael Fullan – ‘Pedagogy is the driver, technology is the accelerator.’ Without sound pedagogy, technology is irrelevant in an educational setting. She a firm believer in ensuring that students leave class at the end of each year with a holistic education, one that encompasses and nurtures their academic, emotional, social and spiritual well being. Student voice is particularly important and something that she fosters and develops from the beginning of a school year.
Anna recently made the decision to return to the classroom full time, after many years in a dual admin/classroom role. This has enabled her to put into practice the transformational ideas that she spent the past few years developing at her last school, for which she was nominated and won a National Excellence in Teaching Award. She has recently had an article in ETS Magazine published detailing this transformation. In her spare time, Anna is attempting to locate a PhD topic to pursue!
