Get your students EXCITED about LEARNING!

Heidi Jones has been teaching in the Merton Community School District since 1989 and
she cannot imagine doing anything else. She knew she wanted to be a teacher since the third grade. Merton is located about 30 miles west of Milwaukee. Heidi taught 4th grade for over 20 years and a couple of years ago switched to teaching 5th.
Heidi often says she “woke up” and reinvented herself when she joined twitter a few years ago. With the encouragement of her current principal Jay Posick (@posickj), Heidi got involved in twitter chats, started presenting at conferences, and best of all started meeting “tweeps” face to face at various conferences and “edcamps”.
Connectivity is very exciting and invigorating to Heidi. She brings this excitement and enthusiasm to her students every day by showing them the world is so much more than that which is between the four walls in their classroom. There are people to get to know, authors to meet via Google Hang Out, and tips on how to present our passion projects from other educators! It is the 21st century and the world is their oyster. They just
have to be encouraged to go out and grab the opportunity!
When Heidi is not teaching, on a twitter chat, or preparing for a conference, she enjoys spending time with her husband Jeff, of 22 years, and their two boys Logan 16 and Cameron 14.
